In 1999, while still a law student at the University of Kansas, I began clerking for Mike McCausland and Todd Barrett. More than 20 years later, we remain together as partners.

 

During that time, I have tried more than 30 jury trials and have been lead counsel for my clients on nearly all of them.

 

I have been involved in hundreds of cases with wide ranging facts, including catastrophic personal injuries, employment discrimination, drunken fist fights, a multi-million dollar will contest, boating accidents, construction defects claims and livestock running at large.

 

I have spoken at national conferences on strategies for litigation success, as well as providing seminars to corporate clients on effectively handling cases and claims in Kansas and Missouri. In the past, I have presented to groups of lawyers on various topics, as part of our continuing education requirements.

 

Despite the above, I still prefer the day-to-day interactions with my clients in hopes of helping them find an efficient resolution to the problem at hand.

 

And even with these ongoing successes in the court room and at the negotiating table, I am infinitely prouder of my two sons – Luke and Jake – and my nearly 20-year marriage to my wife and law partner, Molly. We also have a dog, Hud, who is mostly well behaved.
